If Whitstable has one foot in the past, then the other is firmly in the contemporary. Take a look along Harbour Street and you will find modern art galleries, trendy designer clothing, gift and housewares outlets as well as a full selection of cafes, pubs, restaurants and of course our Cupcake Shop! From the shingle beach you can enjoy some stunning views over the sea perhaps while supping a pint at the Old Neptune pub, one of few in the country actually on the waters edge. A stroll around the harbour will bring you the delights of fresh caught seafood on sale to take home or to be enjoyed in the specialist restaurants nearby. Every July the oyster is celebrated with a week long festival. The town has a rich maritime history and is known the world over for its Native Oysters. The towns maritime achievements can be explored in the museum in Oxford Street. It also recounts Whitstables part in the worlds first passenger carrying railway line to Canterbury.
